Courier Company Case #1
Client Description
A National Courier Company
Logistics
Employees nationwide
Challenge
National Courier Company needed to reduce its workforce because of the recession. Because of employee reduction, they needed to reduce the number of wireless lines on there wireless account by 200 units. This posed a problem because of the cost of early termination fees, the cost of cancellation for these lines was $40,000.
Action Taken
CPS negotiated with the company’s cellular carrier and received a credit of over $40,000 for the disconnection fees. The courier company received an additional $10,000.00 from CPS for upgrades they sold to CPS and they received an additional $15,000.00 in free equipment. By taking these actions, CPS was able to reduce the cost of cancellations to nothing, while creating working capital for the courier company.
Results
The courier company saved $40,000.00 plus in early termination fees by being able to disconnect those lines immediately instead of waiting to disconnect the lines at a later time while paying monthly recurring charges per line. Also, their unused upgrades gained them $10,000.00 to use toward the cost of the lines that remained their responsibility. In addition, the free equipment saved them $15,000.00 in cost plus additional savings in time and labor because of having these units readily available. CPS turned a $40,000 headache into a $25,000 profit.
